Commuter flows under power Promotion of e-vehicles for commuters who work in Hamburg

Project period: 01/2018 – 12/2020

Ein Elektroauto an einer Ladesäule

Commuters from the surrounding districts and counties make up a large proportion of inner-city traffic in Hamburg. The "commuter project" has successfully initiated the electrification of this traffic and a total of more than 600 electric vehicles have been put on the roads.

The initiative targeted employees residing in one of the counties and districts directly adjacent to the Hamburg metropolitan area who commute to the city by car for work.
Since this group of people accounts for a large share of daily traffic and thus offers significant potential for reducing emissions, electric vehicles funded through the project were offered at discounted leasing rates.
To this end, the leasing companies VW Leasing (Volkswagen brands) and RCI Banque (Renault) applied for subsidies and incorporated them directly into the leasing contracts in the form of a special payment. For the first time, this project targeted private vehicle users who were able to take advantage of a subsidy for electric vehicles in addition to the environmental bonus.
